Welcome to another edition of We Love To Rave Epic

The Acid Techno Priestess has made significant progress, and we fully support her. I'm going to review the timeline of the Priestess of Darkness. If I forget something, please let me know on Twitter!

Vaunt has mentioned in previous interviews that she began her career at the age of seventeen when she fell in love and started using turntables as her musical instrument. She has cited her first record as "Children" by the late, great Robert Miles. The choice to buy "Children" represents the good musical taste that Vaunt seems to display when performing live sets.

If you haven't listened to any of her amazing live sets, check them out on SoundCloud; they're absolutely killer.

The Japanese-American DJ spent several years in Japan modeling and working as an actress.

In 2018, Vaunt solidified her status in the industry with her alter ego, Marie Vaunt, Priestess of the Dark. She shed her bashful persona and released her first major hit, "Witchcraft," which soared to the Top 20 of the Beatport Top Techno Charts. This was followed by "The Coven" and a personal favorite of mine, "Alchemy," which is still on rotation in my gym techno playlist.

Vaunt's dark, hypnotic, and hard-hitting style has led her to collaborate with some of today's top industry producers and labels. She has gained the attention of the highly coveted label, Drumcode, by releasing massive hits such as "Technology," "ADSR," and "Dark Room."

"Dark Room," her biggest hit, has remained in the Techno Beatport Top 100 for four months straight, showcasing her enduring power in the scene. Last month, the first single of her imprint label "The Chosen" hit number one and is still in the top five of the Techno Top 100 and the Hype Top 10. She is no stranger to having multiple songs on the charts simultaneously, as "ASDR" and "Dark Room" have been in the Top 100 Techno Charts for months.

Marie Vaunt has also released other major hits on major labels, such as "Smile, You're on Acid" on Revealed Recordings, and a remix of Clap Coddex's "Infinity" on Alaula Music; one that is on heavy rotation.

Marie Vaunt is unquestionably one of my favorite producers and DJs at the moment. Her productions are super clean, her message is super clear, and every track has a beginning, middle, and end. Not to mention the emotion it invokes in me. Every time I hear those crisp drums, I feel like dancing. Every time I hear that deep bass, it naturally lifts my spirits. Perfection is the only proper word to describe Vaunt's productions.

Her music evokes memories, feelings, and sensations from my early days as a raver, listening to DJs like Space Girl, the original Acid Queen. Vaunt utilizes the TD3 and the MXR to create her signature acid sounds.

Vaunt is a dedicated music enthusiast, evident in her consistent tribute to her favorite bands by creating dance remixes of their hits. She not only pays homage but also showcases her creativity and talents.

For instance, her unofficial remix of "Shout" by Tears for Fears preserves the original post-punk vibe while injecting a modern darkness into the song. The same can be said for David Bowie's reinterpretation of "Let's Dance" and Duran Duran's "Girls on Film."

As the label owner of Kurai Records, she has signed artists such as Molothav, Naems, and Eveak. Although a brand new label, Kurai Records has already made an impact on the scene with the label's first single, "The Chosen," landing in the top position on Beatport Techno Top 100.

Clearly, Marie Vaunt is more than just a DJ and producer; she embodies the underground, thoroughly understanding its history and sounds while masterfully incorporating them into her work.
